In 1995 I helped start Steller Construction. With over 30 years of construction management, my primary experience, I’ve been hands-on in every aspect of the residential building process from starting with raw land all the way through a beautifully finished home. I still proudly own my first set of heavy-duty, well-worn tool bags. I’ve led the development of effective financial tracking models and using technology in highly practical and yet simple ways. I’ve has also used my business administration experience as a consultant for other small businesses and is passionate about companies being well-run with integrity and efficiency.

I have worked in Management in a variety of fields from the Restaurant industry to the Arts to Fitness and now Construction. The area that I most enjoy about management in any field is working directly with people and building and fostering relationships. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and make long lasting relationships. In each industry, this has been the single most enjoyable aspect! I am an organizer at heart – so building systems, keeping systems a go, colleagues on track, and all things kept efficiently where they need to be – is rewarding. Some like to say obsessive compulsive but to that I harumph – I prefer particularity!

Kelly McKamey, General Manager

I’ve been fully-employed in the construction industry for over 23 years, with most of that time being the owner of my own company. The last several years, I have focused on all aspects of finish carpentry working as a craftsman to produce excellent finished projects. Being a woodworker has been a love of mine since I was a young teenager; my collection of beautiful pieces of wood (to use on some future projects) has my wife thinking I am a hoarder…but beautiful wood fascinates me! I love to meticulously examine the work of craftsmen, and take great joy and pride in a completed project that pleases our customers. Construction is more about relationships than it is about nailing boards together to build a home. Steller Construction has a great reputation of building high-quality homes, but also building long-lasting relationships.

There is a picture of me, I must have been around 1 year old, in a baby walker holding a push broom handle, “sweeping” my dad’s cabinet shop. Ever since then I have always had some kind of association with construction. I have fond memories of exploring the woods around the construction sites dad worked on during Jackson Hole summers when mom needed us boys out of house. From helping my grandad with various handyman projects in town as a preteen, working summer roofing jobs in Oregon with my uncle as a teenager, to my first full-time, post-high school job helping construct a Snake River guest house from dirt work to finish work, I grew up with many different construction experiences. Moving out on my own, I have lived in Colorado, Oregon, California, and Washington (where I met and married my wife). Over the past 24 years, I’ve worked full time jobs as a tile setter, Framer, Lumber Yard worker, Electrician, Insulator, Roofer, Concrete worker, Duct Cleaner, HVAC Salesman, and Remediation and Restoration Estimator. My wife and I have lived in Jackson a couple different times in our marriage. The most recent time was from 2017 through 2019, when I began working for Steller Construction as an Estimator and Controller.

After graduating from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Geology and working as a uranium geologist in Casper (only working female geologist in the state for 3 years) I moved to Jackson in 1972. I talked to Grand Teton National Park about a geology position but they told me that they weren’t “a geology park”. Wow. So, to stay in Jackson, I did my next best thing and started bookkeeping. I worked at the hospital, for other construction companies and several individuals before deciding to be my own boss. Working for Steller Construction is the best – an organized, friendly and competent company.
